Kognitive und kulturelle Aspekte des Übersetzens

This paper investigates the interrelation between cultural, cognitive and communicative-linguistic phenomena. Cultural aspects not only mark encyclopaedic knowledge but they also influence language as a system and language use. Cultural knowledge manifests itself in the meaning of certain lexemes and in culturally marked representations of world knowledge, as knowledge of action and stereotyped behaviour. Cultural knowledge also influences the preferences of speakers when producing texts, i.e. the selection, organization and combination of lexical and morpho-syntactical elements. The resulting difficulties for translation are thoroughly discussed.In dieser Arbeit wird der Interrelation zwischen kulturellen, kognitiven und kommunikativ-sprachlichen Phänomenen nachgegangen. Kulturelles prägt nicht nur das enzyklopädische Weltwissen, sondern beeinflusst auch die Sprache als System und den Sprachgebrauch. Kulturelles Wissen manifestiert sich in den Bedeutungen bestimmter Lexeme, in kulturgeprägten Weltwissensrepräsentationen, als Handlungsmusterwissen und Verhaltensstereotypkenntnis, sowie in Präferenzen für die Selektion, Anordnung und Kombination von sprachlichen Systemelementen lexikalischer wie morphosyntaktischer Art zu Textsortenexemplaren. Convergencias y divergencias en torno a la descripción de verbos

Este trabajo expone los resultados de diversas investigaciones centradas en la descripción de los verbos atendiendo, por un lado, la prioridad de los aspectos semánticos y la interfaz entre lo semántico y lo sintáctico, y, por otro, lo semántico y lo cognitivo. El verbo predetermina la cantidad y la calidad semántico-categorial, clasemática y funcional de las unidades léxicas que, en parte, lo han de acompañar obligatoriamente, textualizadas en su entorno sintagmático oracional. A partir de las convergencias entre las distintas corrientes de la lingüística moderna en lo que se refiere a la descripción del verbo y, en especial, a su combinatoria, el autor distingue entre el nivel lógico-semántico (plano del contenido) y el de la textualización en la norma o en el habla (plano de la expresión)

Reflexiones acerca de construcciones verbo-nominales/cvn

This contribution deals with the great variety of phenomena which may be covered by the term “verbonominal constructions” (for instance collocations, phraseological units) and suggests a subdivision for the lexicalized and not yet lexicalized cooccurrence of verbs and nouns. After a brief description of the state-of-the-art, emphasis is given to the explanation of the collocability of lexical units. First the paper focuses on the valency of verbs and nouns. Then it presents some considerations about the collocability of nouns with verbs which are specifying the most prototypical predications about the referent instantiated by the concrete and autoincident noun. In this context three axes are distinguished: – one expressing the existence of the designated things (and, for instance, their genesis or production);– the no-being-more or disappearance and – the change of the being (property, etc.) of these things.Moreover, the paper presents the properties of another subgroup of verbonominal constructions. Such constructions consist of a verb which has almost completely lost its semantics and functions as a support, whereas the combined or collocated noun, with its relational semantics and heteroincidental features, conveys all the semantic information, or, at least, its major part. Based on numerous investigations about these constructions with functional verbs or verbs of support in German, an attempt is made to distinguish several subgroups of this kind of verbonominal constructions and to compare them to other constructions with “full verbs” and nouns which present distinct semanti

Semantikforschung in der DDR — Bilanz und Ausblick

Der Artikel beschreibt die Hauptlinien, die in der serenantischen Forschung verfolgt werden, in der DDR, wie im internationalen Kontext und aus der Perspektive der lexikalischen, vorzugsweise lexikalistischen Semantik. Es werden nicht nur die wichtigsten Veröffentlichungen der die in den vierzig Jahren seit der Gründung der R. D. A. entstanden sind. Es wird auch versucht, einen Überblick über die erzielten Ergebnisse und die geförderten Ansätze zu geben.
